Through our Year 8/9 pastoral programme and whole school curriculum, we have looked at self-preservation and lifestyle and part of this is having a healthy balanced diet and completing regular exercise. I am sure you agree that keeping fit and healthy is a priority in a world of convenience and technology.
After the huge success of last year’s fitness challenge, we have decided to launch a new 30 day fitness challenge for all pupils in Year 8 & 9. The 30 day programme involves a variety of interval sessions which comprise of short exercises that can be done in the home and there are two levels to choose from (beginner and intermediate). You are more than welcome to join in!
Each day involves a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) session for the pupils to complete. They have all opted to do either the beginner or intermediate session. There is a workout guide which specifies the number of sets and times for rests and exercises.
Each child has received a copy of the programme which should be signed off every week. The programme can also be accessed on our website along with an explanation of the exercises, if you or your child are unsure.
We hope you agree this is an excellent opportunity for your child to get involved in a fun challenge that will hopefully see an increase in their exercise and energy levels. We aim to show that exercise can not only be fun, but can fit in around family time in the evening.
We would advise that all pupils who take part should:
