The vision of the Technology department is to engage students in an ever changing world, which will allow them to work through carefully planned curriculum activities that serve a real purpose. Our students will learn how to manage and control design problems, work safely with a variety of tools and materials, and become resourceful, innovative and enterprising citizens. During Technology lessons students will draw upon and apply their knowledge of other subjects, such as Mathematics, Science, Engineering, ICT and Art & Design. They will also develop their knowledge of healthy lifestyle choices through food nutrition. The staff of the Technology department are all specialist teachers with a passion for the subject. They endeavour to develop each student’s abilities to and beyond the point of expectation in an enjoyable and exciting atmosphere. The focus of lessons encourages students to develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world. In order to present their wide range of knowledge, students are encouraged to take risks and be prepared to make mistakes in order to achieve their goals. They will show an understanding of past and present designers that will help them develop a critical understanding of how design impacts on daily life and the wider world around them.
